Privacy Policy
Katran – News Cutting Maker ("Katran", "we", "us") lets you turn your news into newspaper-style cuttings. This policy explains what information the Katran Android app and website (e-pepar-app.web.app) collect, why, and the choices you have.
1. Information we collect
- Google account details – when you sign in with Google: your name, email address, profile photo link and a unique user ID.
- Newspaper profiles you create – your name, newspaper name, logo image, edition, website and default place/byline, so they are available when you sign in on another device.
- Basic usage information – when your account was created and last used, whether you use Android or the web, how many newspapers you set up and how many cuttings you downloaded.
- Premium requests – if you request a Premium plan: the plan chosen and any payment reference you enter (for example a UPI transaction ID). We do not collect card or bank details.
- Advertising – if ads are switched on in the app, Google AdMob may collect your device's advertising ID, IP address and ad-interaction data to show and measure ads. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's Google settings.
- Website analytics – the web version uses Google Analytics for Firebase to understand general usage (pages viewed, device and browser type). The Android app does not use Analytics.
2. How we use it
- To sign you in and keep your newspaper profiles in your account.
- To provide Premium plans you request and to show or hide ads and the watermark accordingly.
- To understand how many people use the app and to fix problems.
- To prevent misuse (for example, blocking abusive accounts).
We do not sell your personal information.
3. Where it is stored and who processes it
Your account information is stored with Google Firebase (Authentication and Cloud Firestore, data region: Mumbai, India). The app and its updates are served from Firebase Hosting. Ads, when enabled, are provided by Google AdMob. These services process data on our behalf under Google's terms and privacy policy (policies.google.com/privacy).
4. Security
Data is transferred over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Access to account data is restricted by security rules so each user can only read their own information; only Katran administrators can view the user list.
5. How long we keep it, and deleting your account
We keep your information until you delete your account. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Account → Delete my account. This immediately and permanently deletes your account details, newspaper profiles, logos and plan requests from our servers. See Delete your Katran account for other ways to ask.
6. Children
Katran is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
7. Your choices
- You can edit or remove your newspaper profiles in the app at any time.
- You can sign out or delete your account in the app.
- You can ask us for a copy of your information or to correct it by emailing us.
8. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will update the date above and, for important changes, tell you in the app.
